GO50HZ.TOS and GO60HZ.TOS.
Frequency switching programs for the Atari ST.
GO50HZ.TOS changes the frequency of the ST to 50Hz, and
GO60HZ.TOS changes the frequency to 60Hz.
Just double click on each respective program and wait. Nothing
will happen, and you will find yourself staring at the desktop
again. You're probably asking yourself now "Why didn't the
program work???" Well, the program did work. It's sitting in
memory, just waiting for you to tell it to activate the new
frequency. How do you do this? Simple: you press the reset
button, and your computer will now boot up in the new frequency.
Why did I write he program to change frequency only when you
press reset? Well, there are a few autobooting programs and disks
which will only work in one frequency and absolutely refuses to
work in another. So most of the U.S. ST's will not run certain
demos and programs which were not written for 60Hz, and again the
U.K. and other 50Hz ST's won't run other 60Hz applications. One
example is the Pandemonium Demo (also known as the Chaos Demo).
The frequency switching program also erases itself immediately
after changing frequency, so all of your memory is availably to
whatever you are trying to run...
And now, please note: I have only tested these programs on a
1040STFM with TOS 1.02. I do not accept any responsibility for
anything going wrong with your system as a result of using these
programs. You use them at your own risk. (I have to say that to
protect my own ass!)
If you found these programs useful, GOOD! Spread them around...
but please keep this document and the source code with them. You
are welcome to make any changes to the code, but please also
state that the code has been changed. As it stands now, the code
is not very efficient, and it can be optimised, but I'm feeling
lazy at the moment, so why bother?
The files which should be kept together are:
GO50HZ.TOS
GO60HZ.TOS
GO5060HZ.S
GO5060HZ.DOC
Oh yeah, these programs aren't shareware, they're free! I feel
that they are too small to be worth being shareware.

And thank you for taking the time to actually read all this
rubbish...
